Chinese woman pleads guilty to sex trafficking in the US.

Chinese woman, Hongmei Madole, 32, has pleaded guilty to charges of trafficking Chinese women to Kansas, USA and exploiting them as prostitutes in three massage parlours.  Although she could face up to 20 years in jail, the preliminary estimates in her plea agreement suggest she could in fact only serve 8 months. Clients warned that paying for sex with trafficked women is rape.

The UK home office has launched a poster campaign with the stark warning “Walk in a punter, walk out a rapist.” The posters will be piloted in men’s toilets in Westminster and Nottingham. This is latest attempt by the UK government to tackle demand for trafficked women, by raising doubts in the minds of men who use prostitutes, as to whether the women they have sex with are there of their own free will. “Trafficking is a vile and evil trade and sex buyers must be made to think twice about the consequences of their actions,” said home office minister Vernon Coaker.

Vietnamese human trafficking ring goes on trial: Swedish court

A total of 34 people, mostly from Vietnam, went on trial in southern Sweden on Tuesday accused of trafficking people from Vietnam to Sweden, judicial sources said.
The suspects are accused of “having set up a human trafficking ring, fraud … and entering fake marriages,” Jan Waren, a judge at the Halmstad district court told AFP.
Of the 34, 15 are Vietnamese citizens, 18 are Swedes of Vietnamese origin and one is a Swede. Read more.

Mom and daughter guilty of slavery charges

A Fort Lauderdale federal jury on Tuesday convicted a south Florida mother and daughter on slavery charges for keeping a teenage girl from Haiti in servitude for six years.
After deliberating 51/2 hours, the jury of six men and six women convicted Maude Paulin, 52, a former middle school teacher, and her mother, Evelyn Theodore, 74, of conspiring to enslave the girl, forcing her to work and harbouring an illegal immigrant.Paulin’s ex-husband, Saintfort Paulin, 60, was found guilty of harbouring an illegal immigrant. Dutch police arrested 4 men on forced prostitution charges.

Four men between age 20 and 34 have been arrested by the dutch police after two bulgarian women pressed charges for forcing then into prostitution. They were arrested in different locations in Holland. link
