Polish migrant workers vulnerable to human trafficking

When the burnt remains of 23-year-old Beata Bryl from Poland were found in a wood in Buckinghamshire, England, it was the end of a story of deception and trafficking. She had gone to the UK with a man who acted as her boyfriend, but increasingly forced her into prostitution and exploitation. When she tried to escape she was threatened, beaten and finally killed. Her mother Maria Bryl had been trying to find her, and to break the hold the traffickers had over her. She did not succeed.
Stana Buchowska, from the Polish anti-trafficking organisation La Strada said “Often girls who have dreams to go to wealthy western countries are lured by older men, who persuade the girl they love them and take them to the
UK,”. The ease with which Polish people can now travel to other EU countries may make them more vulnerable to being trafficked and authorities need to make sure that people have every facility for checking that their migration is legitimate and safe. I don’t know where did you get these informationsfrom but as a long good friend of the woman i do not agree at all with those comments, i am pretty sure that it wasn’t an act of human trafficking. I am sorry i cannot say more but i think medias have used the case to help their “campaign” or what ever it is.

I am sorry that your friend died. The case does sound like one of human trafficking, though. Human trafficking is not just when a person is kidnapped, or sold directly into prostitution or forced labour. Sometimes there can be a long period over which time the deception becomes apparent and the controlling nature of a relationship becomes clear.

I have been concearned about Human trafficking for some time. I agree with Phil when he says that it isn’t always a case of kidnapping. People from poor countries and backgrounds are made vunerable by traffickers who offer a way out of poverty and then take advantage and abuse the people who are now dependent on them. The course I am now studying at university will hopefully allow me to work in this field and try to raise awareness of Trafficking. People need to know what is going on. I would also like to point out that it is very likely that authorities and people in power have something to do with the trafficking of men, women and children. We live in a world motivated by greed and corruption. Trafficking continues because money can be made from it. Why would those in power try to stop something that is paying so well? We need to open our eyes. The are huge numbers of phaedophile rings all over the UK where trafficked children from poor countries are taken from their homes and never seen again. And nothing is reported. This is happening everyday.
I saw a photo of Beata and I am devestated for her suffering and her families loss. she is one of many. Whats terrifying is the number of people who just disappear due to trafficking and are never seen or heard of again.
